When teaching lessons about people, places, or concepts with which my students are unfamiliar, I strive to incorporate some kind of video clip to share with them to either build background knowledge, ignite prior knowledge, or allow them to make outside connections. For example, in my reading lessons related to biographies of former baseball star Lou Gehrig, and music star, Gloria Estefan, I used the internet to bring in video and music clips to introduce these figures to my students.
