Social Studies & Art

When examining certain parts of the Northeast region in Social Studies, I thought my integration of art could be especially important because most of my students could not even imagine these places before my lesson. Illustrating scenes from the different parts of the region allowed them to make meaningful connections, in a way taking responsibility for their own learning. Again, my students do not receive formal art instruction in school, so I try to incorporate art in any relevant way that I can, not only because they enjoy art, but because art is an important form of expression for many students.
